Painting in Cabo

We spent six fabulous days in Cabo San Lucas, our first trip to Mexico.

It was very relaxing, to the point of getting plenty of sleep and wondering if we should be doing something!

Sitting on the lanai painting, interspersed with a few laps in the pool, following by a few chapters of a favorite novel left me feeling like a different person. Calmer. Definitely warmer. Prettier.

Small paintings ensued, albeit watercolors because we could not figure out how to transport oil solvents in our carry-on luggage. Playing with the paints made me want to paint more watercolors, because the color is translucent, like the brilliant aqua-blue water in the sea of Cortez.

The beaches were the most beautiful I have ever seen, more so than Hawaii in that the blues were bluer and the light seemed purer. We stayed at a condo we found on Airbnb owned by a French couple, the wife’s name being ‘Marie’, how apropo. They gave us tips on where to paint, and the painting below called ‘View from Sunset Point’ is based on their recommendation.

I am glad we had that week of painting. I’ve always wanted to visit Mexico. Ola Tequila! We drank some of that too, and it was darn tasty.

Now we are back and trying to stay warm, getting ready for a Thanksgiving feast, and feeling thankful we had the chance to be warmed by the sun for one blissful week in Mexico.

Here’s our photo album.
