Art in the Big Apple

Three days in New York City filled with as much art as we could see. It was amazing! Here are two of my favorite paintings. There were so many more, and you can see them on my Flickr Photo Album!

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Sunflowers by Vincent Van Gogh, 1887.

I love this painting. The chance to see it with my own eyes was incredible. I realize I didn’t really do it justice when I did my own version. You can see mine at Sunflowers, after Van Gogh.

We also saw the special exhibit of John Singer Sargent’s paintings called ‘Sargent: Portraits of Artists and Friends’. That was spectacular as well

The Museum of Modern Art

The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh, 1889.

Allan loves this painting. Most people are familiar with it. It was the most popular painting in the museum. We had to patiently wait our turn in order to get close enough to take a picture. But it was worth it!

We also saw the Picasso Sculpture exhibit , a sweeping survey of Pablo Picasso’s three dimensional works. It is the first time all of his sculptures have been shown together in the United States.
