I love to paint in oils, acrylics, and watercolors. My style is eclectic. Even though each painting may be distinctly different in style, theme or medium, the goal is to capture one reflective moment, punctuated with symbolic elements where viewers can find a connecting emotional bond.
I studied fine art, art history, painting and printmaking in college, but I’ve been self-taught for most of my life. In my experience, university coursework didn’t teach me how to paint. It taught me what art means in the context of religion, history, society and even the economy.
This fundamental understanding of what art is, along with the travel privilege of seeing the world’s best paintings in museums across the globe, continues to provide me with a foundation on which to build my own technique.
I also grew up knowing I was going to be an artist. Other girls focused on boys, games, and fashion, but my artistically eccentric French mom sat me in front of an easel and made me paint. It seemed a burden at the time, but it left me with the quintessential confidence that no matter where life took me, art would always be at my side. For that, I will always be grateful.
