People love watching artists paint. I'm no exception. If ever an artist is demonstrating, I'm right there looking closely over their shoulder and asking questions.

So when I had the chance to do some painting demos in my hometown I decided it was time to give back.

My local gift shop/postal center, where the owner has so generously provided me with wall and shelf space to display my art, was glad to host me. I did several demos in 2025. One featuring watecolor roses, and one of yellow spring daffodils. Attendees included my artsy friends, along with shoppers and passerbys. I was a bit nervous but quickly adjusted to the friendly chit chat and relaxed atmosphere. It was fun! I auctioned each painting and the winner took it home.

More recently I did a painting demo of cats that benefited a cat rescue organization. It was held at the opening reception of an art show in which I was participating. We had a built in audience of attendees, plus the gallery is in a local brewpub--genius idea--which brought in a Friday night crowd of brewpubbers, who naturally liked the ambiance.

My quick, wet-on-wet paintings of a ginger cat and a black cat were purchased on the spot, and I agreed to give all the proceeds to a cat rescue organization. Again, it was really fun and gratifying.

The Animal Rescue organization mentioned is Nine Lives & More Cat Rescue in Kalama, Washington. Local gift shop/postal annex is ETC Mercantile in downtown Kalama, Washingon. The Asla-Art Gallery owned by my friend Merrilee Asla Lee is the gallery located in a 'brewpub'. Said brewpub is Willie Dicks First St. Taphouse in downtown Kalama, Washington. All of which indicates that Kalama, Washington is a bit of an up-and-coming artsy town these days. All of which makes me happy.
